Special Notice to NJ Department of
Personnel Promotional Candidates

The New Jersey Civil Service Commission publishes an Orientation Guide for exam candidates on the date they issue the exam announcement (June 1 for Sergeant; July 1 for Lieutenant and Captain). This Orientation Guide is only available by writing the NJ CSC for it, or accessing it via their website (see the KTR Links Page for the URL).

Key Testing & Review will supply ALL books listed by the NJ CSC for the rank the student is testing for. KTR will also provide a book breakdown ("Key-Notes") for these books to emphasize the highly testable areas of each book for the rank the student is testing.

New Jersey Civil Service Commission Commissioner Ida L. Castro announced last year that the management and supervision book list will not contain any book(s), whose author is associated with any promotional Study Group. A high level source at the NJ CSC has confirmed to KTR that they will adhere to this policy this year and as long as Ida Castro is the Commissioner. He also stated that this will include management and supervision books and legal books as well

Before entering, check our list of reading material.
